The income of the municipalities consists primarily of income taxes and block grants from the government of Greenland. Block grants from the state are handled by the government of Greenland as a payment under the management agreement between the government and the Greenlandic municipalities.

 

Block grants from the government of Greenland are divided into five parts: A basic grant, a social block grant, a grant for schools, a grant for other areas, and a structural contribution, cf. Table 18.
